December 9, 2005 Seminar Minutes and Presentation Download
In spite of the major snow storm hitting the New York Metropolitan area, the meeting was well attended. Jenny Chow from IBM was the MC who kicked off the meeting. We would like to thank Infinity Systems Software, Inc. for sponsoring the coffee break and lunch and ISO for providing the facilities.
Agenda and Presentations:
Dean Keister, Dean Keister, Director, Business Integration,
Centerprise Services, Inc., made a presentation based on a white paper he is
writing on bullet-proofing message flows. He
described just what it means to have a message flow that is bullet proof.
He then reviewed the various points of failure that should be understood
when developing message flows, what information is available, and a variety of
techniques that can be used to capture and analyze failure information, attempt
recovery, record information, and provide notification.
Sample code was provided showing implementation examples.
Rene' Bostic represented IBM Business Executive and
reviewed IBM’s view of the Enterprise Service Bus and how the WebSphere MQ,
WebSphere Message Broker, and WebSphere ESB products fit in to this
architecture.
Wayne Schutz, Senior Solutions Architect, IBM Software
Services for WebSphere, provided a detailed look at WebSphere Message Broker V6
reviewing the major new features and how they can be effectively used.
His presentation included a live demonstration of the product.
Once again,
Although delayed by the snow, Sean Gavin - Director of Enterprise Architecture & Integration
from Scholastic, gave a great presentation on how he and his team have
migrated to a Service Oriented Architecture.
He was very effective in describing problems and the evolution from
problem to solution. By the end of
this presentation, the path from problem to solution and the benefits of the
solution were well understood.
Unfortunately Dennis Slater, CTO, Partsearch Technologies
was unable to make the meeting due to the snow storm.
He will be called upon to make his presentation, Contrarian
Approach to Total System Integration, at the next meeting.
