Building a New JMS Environment (While Using MQ v7 to Replace TIBCO)
Presenter: Derek W.
Hornby, Senior Technical Lead, Neuberger Berman Group, LLC
Derek discussed how he was
asked to remove all TIBCO and move to MQ for the company he was working for. He
used all the standard best practices, a long with many vendor packages. He went
through these and discussed which solutions he was considering, the solution he
choose and gave the reason for those choices. He explained how the clients (both
JMS and XMS) would connect to qmgrs using the new reconnect option by specifying
a list of hosts in the connection list. He also went into some depth on the
security options. Connecting to external companies he always used SSL and a
security exit (which he got from Capitalware). He also discussed monitoring and
how he choose Avada's Infrared 360.

WebSphere MQ Best Practices
Presenter: Bobbee Broderick, IT Specialist, IBM Software Services
for WebSphere
MQ integrates with many of your core and satellite systems. It has become one of the most widely used components not only in mid-size organizations but has become a key factor in bringing together a SOA approach for many enterprise organizations around the world. With so much integration going on, it is no wonder that everyone is doing it different. Some are approaching their organization usage of MQ with a 'dirty and quick' implementation. Others are over analyzing their design and maybe over complicating the architecture. Maybe some don't realize the exposure to the business their current system has. This presentation discussed what are the most often used approaches for MQSeries and integration patterns a long with configuration and best practices among the user communities.
Title:
Is My Message Broker an ESB?
Presenter: Guy Hochstetler, IBM Software Services for WebSphere
Guys discussed the use of WMB in an ESB with best practices and patterns of use. He discussed that Message Broker helps solve many of your connectivity problems. He explained using Message Broker as an ESB is a usage pattern that is best achieved by considering the SOA and ESB goals when designing and developing the solutions. He went on to discuss ideas that make it easier to use Message Broker as an ESB with respect to integration patterns, development practices, topology configurations, and testing.
