October 7th, 1999 User Group Seminar

The October 7th seminar had over 130 New York/New Jersey MQSeries professionals who attended. We give thanks to the Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey, which offered the meeting site, and Candle Corp., which provided the breakfast.
Paul Blanz (Goldman Sachs & Co) was the MC and kicked off the meeting. There were three presentation topics for this seminar. These were:

Paul Opella (PepBoys) presented “Tivoli Monitoring of MQSeries”. Paul presented an overview of the Tivoli frame work and Tivoli for MQSeries, followed by his experience of how he installed and customized MQSeries monitoring for the PepBoys environment.

Bill Martin (IBM) explained a major MQSeries Family update this June. The announcement includes MQSeries Integrator Version 2, AMI (available to be downloaded from SupportPac now), XML support across MQ family products, JMS…etc.

Laurence Hart (Candle Corp.) presented technical details of message authentication, privacy, and integrity work for MQSeries through Candle’s product, MQSecure. Laurence explained how private and public keys work in a security area.
